VETERINARIANS

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGISTS
RVT’s are credentialed professionals working as integral members of our health care team. Our technologists work closely with the veterinarians in a wide variety of animal nursing duties and play a large role in client education and exceptional patient care. We encourage our RVT’s to use their full skill set and grow their special interests.

Learning with Westhills
INTERNSHIPS
Westhills EVS internship program offers mentorship for new graduates to develop confidence, strong technical skills, educated decision making and exceptional client communication. Our intern works closely with each veterinarian in our practice on a rotating schedule. Throughout the 6 or 12 month period, the intern will receive training in sport medicine and lameness, reproduction, preventative medicine, dentistry, emergency care and more. The diverse and busy caseload allows interns to identify their futures goals and excel when entering private practice.

EXTERNSHIPS
Westhills EVS welcomes veterinary students in all years and offers experience in general equine practice in both an ambulatory and hospital setting. Students will have the opportunity to work one on one with teaching veterinarians and participate in a variety of cases, including emergencies. An externship allows students to evaluate the practice and case load as a potential internship option. We encourage externs to plan for a 2-6 week period with availability offered all year round.

SUMMER STUDENT PROGRAM
Westhills EVS offers seasonal positions for veterinary and veterinary technology students looking to gain experience, mentorship and exposure to all aspects of general equine practice. Our patients range from top level performance horses to backyard companions, which results in a very diverse caseload that helps students to identify their futures goals and interests and gain experience in all aspects of horse care and handling. Our summer student positions are typically available from May-September with flexibility on start/end dates based on your school requirements.
