Everyone wants their horse to perform at their full potential. Lameness is one of the most common reasons that your horse may not be able to reach their full ability.
A lameness evaluation includes a complete physical exam as well as a soundness exam, which consists of an evaluation of your horse in motion, flexion tests and hoof tester application.
After the completion of the lameness exam, we can offer a wide range of diagnostics and treatments including:
Joint and/or nerve blocks
Blocks involve deposition of local anaesthetic in/around a nerve or joint to determine if the area that will be blocked is the source of pain. Blocks are often performed after flexion testing once an area of concern has been narrowed down.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan uses high-frequency sound waves to make an image of internal body structures, used most often in lameness exams for musculoskeletal and soft tissue evaluation.
Digital Radiographs
A radiograph is taken to look at problem areas of the body, most commonly allowing examination of bones and joints.
Shockwave
Shockwave is a non-invasive treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions including but not limited to wounds, osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries and caudal heel pain. The shockwave triggers the body's own repair and healing response without trauma. Shockwave can be used alone or in combination with other treatments. Click here to view the shockwave brochure.
Pro-stride & PRP
Pro-Stride is an all natural joint therapy that utilizes the bodies own anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties. Click here to view the Pro-Stride brochure.
