Externship

Westhills EVS welcomes veterinary students and offers experience in general equine practice in both an ambulatory and hospital setting. Students will have the opportunity to work one on one with teaching veterinarians and participate in a variety of cases, including emergencies.  An externship allows students to evaluate the practice and case load as a potential internship option.  We encourage externs to plan for a 2-6 week period with availability all year round.  Please submit a resume and letter of intent to office@westhillsevs.com.

Internship

Westhills EVS internship program offers mentorship for new graduates to develop confidence, strong technical skills, educated decision making and exceptional client communication skills. Our intern works closely with and rotates through a schedule with each veterinarian in our practice. Throughout the 12 month period, the intern will receive training in sport medicine and lameness, reproduction and preventative and emergency medicine. The diverse and busy caseload allows interns to identify their futures goals and excel when entering private practice. On-site living accommodations are provided as well as a fully stocked practice vehicle for ambulatory calls and emergencies. A 12 month period is encouraged but we can be flexible for alternative arrangements. A DVM or equivalent degree and ability to obtain an Alberta veterinary license is required for application. Please submit a current resume, letter of intent and three letters of professional reference to Dr. Sarah Malenchak at office@westhillsevs.com. We strongly recommend participating in an externship at Westhills EVS prior to applying.
